One of the most respected actors in Brazilian television and cinema is Selton Figueiredo Mello from Minas Gerais – famous as Selton Mello, born in Passos on December 30, 1972, son of Dalton Mello and Selva Mello.
Who is Selton Mello?
Selton Mello's career begins in his childhood when, at just 7 years old, he participates in his first soap opera Dona Santa on Rede Bandeirantes. From then on, he started to make soap operas and invest in a singing career with a band he called Vendetta. Selton Mello's career was just beginning and he was always keeping a low profile and with his feet on the ground.
It was in 1984 that he made his first work for Rede Globo, where he acted in the soap opera Corpo a Corpo and then did Sinhá Moça. The versatile actor invested in a voice acting career and ended up turning professional, thus doing various jobs for more than six years. After some work in soap operas and miniseries, he played one of the characters that gained him the most public recognition, which was the northeastern countryman Chicó from the miniseries O Auto da Compadecida, which would be one of the most successful feature films in national cinema.
From then on, many soap operas, series and miniseries came along, totaling more than 20 roles throughout his career. One of his biggest performances was in the miniseries “A Cura” which won him several awards.
Actor Selton Mello is also a television director and one of his works was Session of Therapy that was on the air from 2012 to 2014. The actor decided to take some time away from television to dedicate himself only to cinema, where he already counts more than 30 films as an actor and 04 films as a director.

Among his main works as an actor are “O Auto da Compadecida”, “A Mulher Invisível”, “O Palhaço”, “Meu Amigo Hindu”, “Guerra de Canudos” among others. As a director, he directed the films “When Time Falls”, “The Clown”, and “The Movie of My Life”. In some of these works he was also an actor.
Selton Mello is single and has no children, has a very private life, but in 2017 he publicly said that he is in love with actress and singer Marjorie Estiano. Selton Mello is a collector of awards and among his main ones are the Brazilian Grand Prix for Cinema, APCA Trophy, ABC Cinematography Award, Contigo Cinema Award.
